The film shows mourning turned inward as slow self-destruction, alongside a last, faltering attempt at repair and connection. Nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama in 2023 for Brendan Fraser, and adapted from the play The Whale by Samuel D. Hunter.
