Two thirteen year old boys share an intense friendship that shatters when classmates read it as romance, and the fallout ends in one boy's death and the other's grief.
Cannes Film Festival, Grand Prix, 2022
Two thirteen year old boys, Leo and Remi, share a closeness so easy it looks like devotion. When peers at their new school start to comment on it, Leo pulls back to protect himself, the friendship cools, and the loss that follows leaves him carrying guilt he cannot name or speak.
The film watches how shame and the fear of exposure can force a child to sever a tender bond, and how unspoken guilt after a suicide settles into the body and stalls mourning. It gives a therapist a careful account of adolescent attachment, defensive withdrawal, and grief that has no words yet. It won the Grand Prix at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
