Titane
After a childhood car crash leaves her with a metal plate in her skull, Alexia commits murders and, on the run, poses as a fire captain's long-missing son.
Cannes Palme d'Or 2021 won
Alexia, marked since a childhood car crash by a metal plate in her head, works as a dancer and kills, and when the police close in she disguises herself as the son a grieving fire captain lost years before. The captain takes her in, and an improvised, tender bond forms between two people who each need the fiction.
For clinical readers the film works the body, gender and the assumption of another's identity, and above all the making of a parent-child tie out of loss and need rather than blood. It won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2021.
