The Silence of the Lambs
A young FBI trainee trades pieces of her own history to an imprisoned psychiatrist in exchange for his reading of a killer.
Jonathan Demme's film pairs the trainee Clarice Starling with Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and murderer who will help her hunt another killer only if she gives him a piece of her childhood for each piece of insight.
Their exchanges are a dark study of transference, of the analyst as a figure who both sees you and would consume you. Adapted from Thomas Harris's novel. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture.
