Talk to Her
Two men form an unlikely friendship while tending to the comatose women they love, and one man's devotion crosses a grave line.
Academy Award Best Original Screenplay 2003 won
Two men meet while caring for women who lie in comas: a nurse who tends a young dancer and a writer whose lover, a bullfighter, has been gravely injured. They form an unlikely friendship, and the nurse's constant devotion to a woman who cannot respond turns into a serious violation.
The film sits with love addressed to those who cannot answer, and with the point where care shades into possession and abuse. It gives a therapist much to consider about attachment, consent and the fantasy of the other in an unequal relationship. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2003.
