What if a psychological crisis is not only an illness? Borges compares Western psychiatric responses with how other cultures read the same experience.
The film follows two young people through crisis in the United States while setting their experience alongside shamanic and indigenous frameworks in which similar states are read as initiation. It does not argue that diagnosis is worthless, but it does insist that the meaning given to a breakdown shapes its outcome.
