Talking about Matricide

, In person, The Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis

This event has taken place.

This panel forms around Yael Pilowsky Bankirer's book on matricide, a killing psychoanalysis has often formulated and then hidden from view. Reading Freud's case of Little Hans, she treats circumcision as a kind of key fossil for tracing masculine identity, and the discussants set her argument against Lacan, Kristeva and Butler. The result is a close look at what Oedipal theory leaves unsaid about the mother.
