Shalini Masih describes what happens to psychoanalysis when it travels to India. Working as a researcher at a temple known for its rituals of exorcism, she found ordinary analytic language failing her, and had to improvise another one, still carrying the spirit of psychoanalysis but able to meet a possessed person where they actually were. The talk is a study in listening across very different worlds.
