Inner Torment Part II: Fear, Hatred, Envy and Greed

, Freud Museum London

Salman Akhtar takes four dysphoric states in turn: fear and its distinction from anxiety, hatred as a characterological position rather than intensified rage, envy across the disagreement between Freud and Klein, and greed in both its primary and its defensive forms. Each session pairs clinical illustration with literary and everyday examples. Directly useful to anyone meeting these states in transference and countertransference.
